NeuralChek
A data‑rich snapshot of how your nervous system is really responding.
NeuralChek is a science‑based heart rate variability (HRV) assessment that maps how your autonomic nervous system is handling stress, recovery and everyday life. In one quick, non‑invasive scan, we gather objective data on your stress load, resilience and regulatory “age,” so we’re not guessing what your nervous system needs—we’re seeing it.
HRV looks at the tiny variations between your heartbeats and how flexibly your system can shift between “go” (sympathetic) and “rest/restore” (parasympathetic). Higher, well‑regulated variability is generally associated with better adaptability and recovery; persistently low or imbalanced patterns can hint at load, fatigue or being stuck in fight‑or‑flight. NeuralChek turns those patterns into clear visuals and scores you can actually understand and track over time.
/ WHAT IS NEURALCHEK
NeuralChek is an HRV‑based nervous system analysis tool that uses a short ECG‑style reading to assess how your key regulatory systems are functioning and interacting. It doesn’t just give you one number; it provides a multi‑parameter map of your autonomic balance, stress index, recovery capacity and “biological” regulatory age compared to your actual age.
In plain language, NeuralChek helps us see:
How your body is currently responding to stress (load vs capacity).
How easily you can shift out of “on” mode into “rest and repair.”
Whether your regulatory systems look younger, older or right on par for your age.
How your nervous system changes over time as you stack in BrainTap®, Flowpresso®, red light and lifestyle shifts.
It’s not a diagnosis; it’s a high‑quality wellness metric that lets us make more targeted decisions and track trends rather than relying only on “I think I feel a bit better.”
/ WHAT IS HEART RATE VARIABILITY (HRV)
HRV looks at the tiny differences in time between each of your heartbeats. Instead of beating like a metronome, a healthy heart speeds up and slows down slightly as you breathe and move through your day—that flexibility is a sign your nervous system can shift between “go” and “rest” when it needs to.
Higher, well‑regulated HRV is generally linked with better stress resilience, recovery and emotional regulation, while chronically low or flat HRV can be a sign your system is overloaded or stuck in survival mode. HRV doesn’t diagnose anything, but it gives us a powerful window into how your body is really coping—beyond willpower and good intentions.
/ WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR SESSION
01 Arrival & Context
You’ll arrive to a calm, seated setup—no needles, no treadmills, no pushing your system harder. We’ll briefly walk through your current stress landscape: sleep, energy, load, symptoms, medications and supports.
02 The Scan
A small sensor or leads are placed to pick up your heart rhythm while you sit quietly and breathe naturally.
Over several minutes, NeuralChek records the beat‑to‑beat variation in your heart rate and analyses how your autonomic nervous system is behaving in real time.
The software then generates an easy‑to‑read report covering stress index, autonomic balance (sympathetic vs parasympathetic), overall adaptation level, and regulatory age markers.
03 Review & Translation
We’ll go through the results together in plain language—no graph‑shaming, no jargon.
You’ll see where you land on stress load, resilience and nervous system balance and how that lines up with how you feel day‑to‑day.
From there we outline next steps tailored to your goals (sleep, burnout recovery, performance, perimenopause, emotional regulation), which may include BrainTap®, Flowpresso®, red light, somatic coaching or specific home practices.
04 Re‑Checks
If you choose, we’ll repeat NeuralChek at agreed intervals (for example every 4–8 weeks) so you can see objective trends as your inner work and lifestyle changes accumulate.
/ WHY CHOOSE NEURALCHECK
NeuralChek is how we bring both data and depth to your nervous‑system‑first journey. Instead of guessing, we’re looking at how your body is actually adapting—and how that changes with targeted support.
Why it has a seat at the Unapologetically Robertson table:
Objective insight, subjective truth: NeuralChek gives you a measurable baseline of stress and autonomic balance that we then layer with your story, symptoms and lived experience.
Beyond wearables: Consumer devices can hint at HRV trends; NeuralChek is a clinical‑grade assessment designed to capture a deeper, higher‑fidelity map of your nervous system.
Guides your stack: Your results help us decide how to sequence BrainTap, Flowpresso, red light, somatic work and lifestyle shifts so we’re not throwing everything at the wall.
Tracks progress you can see: Follow‑up scans let you see whether your stress index is dropping, your regulatory age is shifting, and your nervous system is gaining flexibility over time.
Perfect for high‑functioning, sensitive women: If you’re used to powering through, NeuralChek offers compassionate accountability—evidence that your nervous system needs care, not more self‑pressure.
This isn’t about chasing a “perfect” score. It’s about understanding your current capacity so we can build a life and support plan that your system can actually sustain.

/ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At NeuroWellness Lab, NeuralChek is one of the ways we “listen” to your nervous system so we can support you with more precision and care. It uses heart rate variability (HRV) to give a snapshot of how your autonomic nervous system is responding to stress, recovery, and everyday life, helping us track trends over time rather than guessing from symptoms alone.
NeuralChek is a wellness assessment, not a medical test, and it doesn’t diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Any reports or insights you receive from a NeuralChek scan are for educational and informational purposes only and should never replace personalised advice from your doctor or healthcare provider. If you have any concerns about your health, please seek guidance from a qualified medical professional and never delay or disregard medical advice because of something you see in a NeuralChek report or discuss in session
Preparing for Your Scan
-
For the most accurate results, we recommend:
Avoiding exercise for at least 4 hours before your scan
Eating only a light meal within 1–2 hours prior (or waiting until after your session)
Staying well hydrated the day before and the day of your scan
Avoiding alcohol on the day of your appointment
If you regularly consume caffeine (like coffee), continue as normal. Sudden changes to your routine can influence your results.
-
Morning is ideal, as your body is typically in a more natural, baseline state. However, if that's not possible, following the preparation guidelines above will help ensure the most accurate reading.
-
Coffee: If you regularly drink coffee, continue as normal before your scan. Sudden changes (like skipping it or having more than usual) can affect your nervous system readings.
Alcohol: Alcohol can significantly impact your results and should be avoided for several hours before your scan.
Meals: Heavy meals can influence your nervous system activity. A light meal is recommended if you need to eat beforehand.
-
Your nervous system is highly responsive, so everyday factors can influence your results. These include:
Recent exercise
Food digestion
Caffeine or alcohol intake
Hydration levels
Sleep quality
Stress (mental, emotional, or physical)
This is why we focus on consistency and context when interpreting your results—not just a single snapshot.
During Your Scan
-
Your scan is simple, non-invasive, and takes around 3–5 minutes. You'll be seated comfortably while soft sensor clips are placed on your wrists.
During the scan, you'll be asked to:
Sit still and relaxed
Keep your feet flat on the floor and hands separated
Breathe normally
Remain quiet while the system records your heart rhythm
The scan collects around 300 heartbeats to assess your nervous system activity.
-
Occasionally, the scan display may look unfamiliar or slightly irregular. In most cases, this is related to sensor placement or environmental factors rather than anything concerning in your body. Your practitioner will adjust things as needed to ensure accurate results.
-
This usually means the wrist sensors (clips) are placed on the wrong sides. Your practitioner can quickly correct this without affecting your overall experience.
-
Sometimes the ECG line may appear slightly thicker or “fuzzy,” especially if the device is connected to a power source. This is normal and does not affect the accuracy of your results.
-
This is often caused by nearby electronic devices or external interference. To support an accurate scan:
Remove smartwatches or wearable tech
Keep phones away from your body
Place bags or belongings away from your lap
In some cases, individuals may be more sensitive to environmental factors, which your practitioner will account for during the session.
-
Occasionally, a scan may need to be repeated if there is too much “interference” in the signal. This can happen for a variety of normal reasons, such as movement, circulation, or environmental factors.
If needed, we may:
Adjust your positioning
Warm your hands or improve circulation
Ask you to rest briefly and try again
If a scan still isn’t successful, we’ll use that as valuable insight into how your nervous system is functioning and discuss what may be influencing it on the day.
Understanding NeuralChek
-
Many wearable devices measure heart rate variability (HRV) using one or two key metrics (such as RMSSD or SDNN). NeuralChek goes further by analysing a wider range of physiological markers, offering a more detailed and comprehensive snapshot of your nervous system. This allows for deeper insights beyond what most consumer devices provide.
-
Yes, children can be scanned using NeuralChek. The main requirement is that they remain still and seated for 3–5 minutes during the scan. Success will depend on the child's comfort level and the ability of both the parent and practitioner to help them feel relaxed and at ease.
-
In most cases, NeuralChek scans are not suitable for individuals with pacemakers or known heart rhythm irregularities (such as arrhythmias or extrasystoles). These conditions can interfere with the system's ability to collect accurate data. Even if a scan is completed, the results may not be reliable.
-
A small number of people may not be able to complete a reliable NeuralChek scan due to specific physiological factors, including:
Pacemakers
Irregular heart rhythms
Circulatory challenges
Very low heart rate or blood pressure
This doesn’t mean anything is “wrong”—it simply means the technology isn’t able to capture consistent data in that moment. We’ll use this as valuable information to guide your care and discuss other ways to support your nervous system health.
-
Yes. NeuralChek allows secure transfer of your scan data between systems when needed. This is managed by your practitioner to ensure your records remain consistent and accessible if you move locations or continue care elsewhere.
